How do I install Fusion presets, DRFX files and Fuses in DaVinci Resolve?

Q&A Posted by Clipizo • Oct 3, 2026

Install a Fusion download according to its file type. A DRFX package, a saved node setup and a Fuse are different things and do not all appear in the same menu.

Start with the extracted package

Extract the ZIP into a normal folder and read its installation instructions. Keep any bundled dependencies alongside the files the instructions identify. Renaming an extension does not convert a node setup into an installer or a title template.

Then identify what you downloaded:

  • .drfx: a Resolve template package. It can contain titles, transitions, effects or other templates.
  • .setting: saved Fusion settings. Depending on how the author built it, this may be a node setup, macro or template.
  • .fuse: a Fusion tool or modifier. It is installed into a Fuses location rather than added as a media clip.
  • .lua: a script. In a Clipizo package this may be the Studio installer, rather than the effect itself.

Installing a DRFX title

  1. Open DaVinci Resolve and load a project.
  2. Double-click the .drfx file and confirm Resolve's installation prompt.
  3. Look in the Effects Library category used by that package. A title belongs in Titles; an effect or transition can appear elsewhere.
  4. Drag the installed template onto a suitable timeline location and adjust its Inspector controls.

For Clipizo Typewriter, the documented location is Edit page → Effects → Titles → Clipizo → Clipizo Typewriter. Other packages may use a different folder name. Restart Resolve if the newly installed item does not appear immediately.

Using a SETTING file

For a saved node setup intended for the Fusion page, open a composition and drag the .setting file into the node graph, following the author's instructions. Inspect the new connections before replacing an existing chain. A pasted setup may create several nodes, and its final image still needs a route to your composition's MediaOut node.

A .setting file intended as an Edit-page title or macro may instead need installation into the appropriate Templates or Macros location. Use the package's instructions to identify that role; the extension alone does not tell you where it belongs.

If the setup refers to a third-party Fuse, font or image, importing the settings does not install that dependency. Missing tools must be installed separately, and missing media must be relinked.

Installing a Clipizo Fuse

Clipizo Fuse ZIPs with a Studio installer include the .fuse, a <PluginName> studio installer.lua file and How to Install.txt.

  • In Resolve Studio or Fusion Studio, follow the included Studio installer instructions. Clipizo's documented procedure is to drag the installer into Fusion's Nodes area and restart the application after installation.
  • In Resolve Free, follow the manual .fuse installation procedure in How to Install.txt for your operating system. The presence of a Studio installer in the same ZIP does not mean that it is the Free-edition installation method.

For reference, Clipizo's Windows manual Fuse location is %AppData%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Fuses. The documented system-level macOS location is /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Fuses. Follow the particular package's guide if it specifies a different location or additional files.

If it still does not appear

Check the actual extension, confirm you extracted the ZIP, restart Resolve, and look in the correct place: the Edit-page Effects Library for a title template, or Fusion's tool search for an image-generating Fuse. A modifier may instead be attached through a control's Modify With menu. Also check the exact Resolve edition and version against the product requirements.

If a node setup imports but produces no image, check its MediaOut connection and missing dependencies before reinstalling everything. The Merge input guide explains a common connection mistake.

References and getting help

When asking for help, include the package name, file extension, Resolve version and edition, operating system, and where you expected the item to appear. A screenshot of the node graph or Effects Library is much more useful than a license key or other private account information.
